The National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda (NCHRD-U) participated in a training about understanding the difference between gender and sex, gender roles, behavior and stereotypes which are socially constructed in communities.
The training was organized by Human Rights Network Uganda with the main aim of raising awareness around gender issues among human rights defenders.
The human rights defenders were inspired to understand gender transformative human rights monitoring, reporting and advocacy.
It was also an opportunity for HRDs to appreciate the link between gender and equal protection of human rights, acquiring knowledge on the right of equality between men and women.
Gender awareness tools and frameworks, existing values and norms that influence our picture of the reality were also discussed.
